The Local London Skills Providers were delighted to run a network meeting at Newham College’s Institute of Technology on Wednesday 11th December.
Vikki Liogier and Claudia Boerescu (Newham College) spoke about the positive results which implementing TeacherMatic has had within their educational institutions, where Darren Kirwin (Bromley Adult Education, BAE) presented on the collaboration between BAE’s collaboration with the Adult Education Budget. OCN London explored the advantages of microcredentials, and Oliver Chesher (Galibier) discussed how telling a story in publicity could deliver a desired outcome. Phil Bourne (London South East Colleges, LSEC) presented on the importance of planning for impact, and Cathy Back (Local London) on engaging employers in order to deliver skills training desired by industry. All their work has expanded green and digital skills opportunities, and has exciting next routes.
Our networking and roundtable opportunities allowed for discussions of the ways in which all attendant organisations could collaborate to implement long-term initiatives in green and digital skills. Different providers hosted ‘speed-dating’ style discussions of their work in the green and digital sectors, and considered opportunities for ongoing collaboration. Thank you to Carl Boyd (01 Founders), Joe McClean (BCS), Andrew Johnson (Okana), Holly Hansen-Maughan (Supply Chain Sustainability Schools), Samantha O’Leary (Tablet Academy), Oliver Chesher (Galibier), and Cathy Back and Sonya Mallin (Local London and the Mayoral Green Skills Academy respectively) for hosting these roundtables.
Thank you to everyone who attended for making the event a success, and especially to Liz Lake (LSEC), Phil Bourne (LSEC), Glen Lambert (Newham), and Penny Walters (LSEC) for organising the event.
