We started our tour of partners with a visit to Bromley Adult Education Centre. Phil Bourne and Liz Lake were impressed by Bromley Adult Education Centre’s commitment to equipping residents with essential skills and opportunities for lifelong learning and enjoyed learning about their course offer, which equips adults of all ages to acquire new skills.
Phil and Liz met with Darren Kirwin, the Centre’s head, and learned more about the Centre’s work to support its community. They toured the building and enjoyed observing a wide range of community-interest subjects. They also visited the Centre’s newly developed immersive suite, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the learning experience through innovative technologies.
“Bromley Adult Education Centre is setting a standard for how community learning providers can innovate and adapt to meet the evolving needs of learners,” said Phil Bourne. “It’s fantastic to see such a dedicated team driving impactful change locally.”
Liz Lake added, “The immersive suite is fascinating. It’s a game-changer for how vocational and technical skills can be taught dynamically, hands-only.”
Darren Kirwin led the discussions and tour, showcasing the Centre’s wide range of programmes, from language courses to vocational training. He emphasised the Centre’s goal of empowering residents through high-quality education and partnerships with local employers.
In addition to learning about the Centre, Liz, Phil, and Darren (image below, left to right) enjoyed discussing how Bromley Adult Centre and London South East Colleges could maximise the benefits of collaboration through the Local Skills Improvement Fund.
