Green Skills and Jobs Fair Success!

On 9th July 2025, the Mayor’s Green Skills for Local London and University of East London (UEL) hosted a Green Skills and Jobs Fair at UEL’s Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability.

At the start of the event, employers were welcomed to the centre for a talk on the Workforce Integration Network Toolkit by Amin Aboushagor, which explained how the toolkit can be used to improve diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

This was followed by a panel discussion with Rory Cleary (Morgan Sindall Infrastructure), Lauren Kennett (Hill Group), and Andrew Kemp (Newham Council), and chaired by Robert DeJong (UEL). This focused on how green skills are changing their industries, what their organisations are doing to incorporate green skills, and advice for people wanting to work in the sector.

Attendees then moved into the jobs fair, speaking to Hill Group, Newham Council, and Estu Global, among others, about the types of green jobs they offer, and the educational pathways needed to get into the sector. Everyone involved seemed excited by their conversations, and made some useful contacts to pursue their career ambitions.

Sonya Mallin, Project Lead for the Mayor’s Green Skills Academy for Local London, said:

We were thrilled to bring together such a passionate group of employers, educators, and future green professionals at the Green Skills and Jobs Fair,” said Sonya Mallin, Lead for the Mayor’s Green Skills for Local London programme. “The energy in the room was electric — from thought-provoking discussions on green industry transformation to meaningful one-on-one conversations about real career opportunities. Collaborating with partners – University of East London – to host this event at the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability was a perfect fit, and we’re already excited about the future events we have in the pipeline!
