Specialist training facilities: green construction training centre at Barking & Dagenham College

Project: There are several exciting initiatives in the borough relating to digital production. This includes Eastbrook Studios, London’s largest film and TV studio campus due to open summer 2024, and the Wharf Studios, the country’s first independent green film studio. Together, they are expected to create around 1,800 jobs. The two studios are also funding Film Barking & Dagenham’s Make It Here programme, which is creating pathways to education, job training, mentorships, employment placement and other business opportunities linked to The Wharf and Eastbrook Studios. In the last 18 months, the Make It Here programme has provided over 50 paid placements for people in the borough.
