What has been achieved in the last year?

Local London has launched a comprehensive update on its regional strategy for skills improvement through its report, “Transforming the Skills Landscape: One Year On.” This report, an extension of the region’s Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), highlights new objectives and progress in matching training with workforce demands to address London’s skills shortages. This initiative is part of a collaborative effort led by BusinessLDN and supported by the Department for Education, the Greater London Authority, and other local stakeholders.

The report identifies five critical sectors—construction, digital and creative, health and social care, manufacturing, and distribution—as central to London’s job market needs. Emphasis has also been placed on digital and green skills, which are increasingly essential for employment across sectors. The LSIP outlines priorities for improving access to training, reducing skills mismatches, and supporting London’s green and digital economy.
