As a partner in the Local London Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF), New City College purchased and installed two immersive rooms, pictured below, one at our Epping campus and the other at the Redbridge campus. Both rooms are Ultra-standard and use I-Immersive, a technology dedicated to designing and delivering revolutionary immersive learning spaces for the education, corporate training, and public sectors.
Epping
The room at the Epping campus has been used infrequently since the launch event in July due to the summer break and enrolment periods. However, several demonstration sessions introduced the staff to the space and Virtual Reality (VR) resources to inspire ideas and creativity and encourage curriculum staff to incorporate the facilities into their lessons. The college will introduce a bespoke booking system designed to allow curriculum staff to meet with a member of the team supporting the area to instruct how best to use the space in their planned session.
Redbridge
Also launched in July, our Redbridge room has similarly been used for events to promote the space and technology to curriculum managers and to introduce our VR resources. The room also joined a recent remote meeting using the ClassView system. This space has also been booked to host I-Immersive’s forthcoming silver level of their training programme, spread across four dates in October and November, which takes a deep dive into an array of professional applications and best practices for maximum engagement and impact.
