Green Skills in Action

We’re excited to share the success of our recent Green Skills in Action breakfast events, held at New City College (NCC), Rainham, and London South East Colleges (LSEC), Bromley. These gatherings brought together employers, stakeholders, and educators to discuss the importance of green skills and explore innovative solutions to meet the needs of the evolving workforce.

Organised as a collaboration between the Local London Skills Providers Network and the Mayor’s Skills Academies (MSA), these events highlighted the progress made through the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) and Local Skills Improvement Funds (LSIFs). These initiatives are designed to align education and training with the demands of employers, ensuring our regional workforce is equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing economy. The MSA is a partnership of eight colleges, working to provide education in green skills to support Londoners into jobs.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit the host colleges and learn about the cutting-edge training facilities and programmes being delivered. Both events fostered meaningful discussions about the technical and green skills that businesses require, creating a platform for collaboration between employers and education providers.

These efforts not only support the region’s economic growth but also contribute to building a more sustainable and resilient future. Together, we’re shaping a greener, more skilled workforce for tomorrow.

Ade Adebola attended the LSEC breakfast, and wrote: “Thank you for your insightful presentation which gives me a useful introduction to the brilliant work you are doing to equip and upskill your students and learners with sought after green skills for Industry. I was extremely impressed during the tour to witness first hand some of your exciting new facilities and the cutting edge equipment and technology which would give your students practical, industry-led skills and knowledge which should improve their competitiveness in securing gainful employment after completing their training.” – Ade Adebola, Carbon, Energy and Procurement Consultant, Auditel (U.K.) Limited

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to champion the green skills agenda across our sub-region!
